Sometimes we encounter relationship and personal issues that may stump us, in terms of our level of overall life satisfaction, or perhaps in terms of key goals we want to achieve within our lifetimes.
When it comes to my counseling services approach, the main treatment method used is referred to as psychotherapy. In fact, psychotherapy is an all encompassing counseling approach that allows for the selection of therapy methods that will enable me to help you overcome the conditions that are challenging you.
This means your treatment plan may include therapy, like psychoanalysis or psychodynamic psychotherapy, where we explore your subconscious influences on your present emotions and behavior, to more solution focused therapies, like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), where we concentrate on retraining your present behaviors through optimizing automated internal dialogue, or your cognitive state, toward helping you control your emotional reactions and associated behaviors. CBT is used to help rapidly extinguish acute symptoms that are causing much pain and distress. Psychodynamic psychotherapy is then incorporated to identify and dislodge long term patterns that are the underlying causes of emotional distress. The results are commonly long lasting and deeply satisfying.
At times, medication is prescribed if it seems that it would be beneficial for your particular course of therapy.
Depending on the issues at hand, individual therapy may be indicated, sometimes in conjunction with group therapy or counseling sessions that include family members, and/or your husband, wife or committed partner.
